Grids set for ENS Finals in Italy
The remaining two qualifiers were completed on Saturday, which set the grids for the Finals at Round 3 of this year’s ENS championship. Whilst qualifying is always important, with bump-ups and long finals, an awful lot can still happen!
The finals then could get underway and as drivers finishing first and second got to bump up and race again, we got a clearer picture of who will have a chance of the vital championship points.

Landmark 20th ENS TQ for Kurzbuch
Simon Kurzbuch hit a big landmark today, as the Mugen driver secured his 20th ENS overall TQ. After setting the best time in Friday evening’s Q2, he then put in the best times in today’s Q3 and Q4. Capricorn’s Dominic Greiner couldn’t match his pace from Friday, but those results were enough to ensure he would start second on the grid, keeping his championship hopes very much alive. The other main championship contender, Toni Gruber, will have a lot to do on Sunday, as he locked himself into an A Final position, but only in ninth overall.

Branson Secures First ENS Pole Position
After it looked like it would be a formality from his pace on Friday, Kyle Branson continued to deliver on Saturday, placing his Xray at the top of the timesheets in both Q3 and Q4 as well. Melvin Diekmann continued to be his closest challenger, despite an issue in Q3 and will start second overall, ahead of his season-long rival, Milan Holthuis, who is upholding Infinity’s honour with third on the grid.

Close races sees Fagnani start up front
Angelo Fagnani will start on pole for the 30-minute Masters A Final. The Italian driver was part of some close battles in Q3 and Q4, but most importantly was out front when it mattered. Backing up his TQ in Q2 yesterday, he also set the fastest time in Q4 today. Luca Martinelli pushed him close, also setting a TQ on both Friday and Saturday, but falling a little short of the best time. Lars Haugen will start third on the grid, in a race which no-one wants to guess at the result already!

Wenger takes vital TQ point on Birthday weekend
Not only does the top qualifier have the advantage of starting at the front of the race, but it also comes with a bonus championship point. This was a great birthday present for the Swiss driver, who was celebrating this weekend (we didn’t ask how old he was!). With the Sport class far from decided, this could prove very important as Wenger fights with second-starting Max Hordijk, the winner in Apeldoorn. American driver Alex Esser had a really solid day, and will start third in the A Final tomorrow.
